Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.

The theatre does not intend to teach you that everyone is an actor, that everything is a performance, though it can. The more viscerally it grips us, the more we're tempted to this inference. Primarily, the point is to view human happenings from a different level or on a different wavelength than the one available to the characters. It's a way of relating to life without being involved. What a delightful superiority. What a dangerous one. There is a way of experiencing everyday life as theatrical (or, in general, "aesthetic") without meaning it is fake, without meaning the world is an unreal play-thing.
